Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes get ready for EVO-X sequential shakedown at World Time Attack - 03 August, 2011
For the second year running, Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes will have a major presence at the annual World Time Attack event, which takes place this Friday and Saturday (5/6 August) at Australia’s Eastern Creek Raceway - the acknowledged home of the WTA series. And, as well as being sponsors of the event, this year sees PPG supplying gear-sets for many of the front-running cars, including last year’s victorious ‘Cyber Evo’ driven by the undisputed master of Time Attack Eiji (Tarzan) Yamada.
To allow the world’s best Time Attack drivers the opportunity to try out its brand-new 6-speed sequential gear-set, PPG has offered competitors the chance to drive its Mitsubishi Evolution X during the event’s test and shakedown sessions. The company is confident that, as soon as drivers experience the product, they will not want to use anything else.
PPG Managing Director Simon Pfitzner said: “This has been a very involved design project, but we have developed with what we believe is a great product that allows a full motorsport sequential option for the Mitsubishi Evolution X. We already have significant interest from the rally community, as well as Time Attack customers and this test opportunity allows some of the drivers to experience what the gear-set is like to use first-hand. It also allows us a great opportunity to gain important technical feedback from the people who count, direct from the World Time Attack event.”
The PPG 6-speed sequential gear-set has been designed to utilise the Mitsubishi OE casing and therefore, directly replaces the manufacturer’s standard unit. The kit includes the gearset ,gearshift assembly as well as a gear position display. The intended applications include rallying, racing, one-make series’ and Time Attack.
